Everlasting Love, For Evermore; A Gift of Poetry, written by Allen Jesson, as a 40th wedding anniversary gift for parents:

What are the key messages you would like to send: We want our parents to know that we are so happy that they gave us such a good life. We are so proud of them for making it 40 years. You don’t see it much in the world today. They are always there when we need them. Mickie is a strong,passionate,warm,loving, beautiful woman that gives her all to everyone with no hesitation. When she walks in a room you know she is there and everyone is happy. Tom is quiet, sincere, concerned, strong and a thoughtful man. The both of them are so wonderful together as a team, as parents the have guided us through good and bad times and we stayed together as a family. I am thankful for my parents teaching me and showing me how to love and care about people. We are so proud of thier life together and only hope ours turns out the same.
Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: They have 3 children: Clyde, Tom married to Regina & Melissa married to Corey. 5 grandchildren: Roman, Amanda, Kayla, Mycah & Gavin. They met on a blind date in 1968 when they went on a double date with Tom’s brother Chip & Mickie’s best friend Sue. They were married after 4 months of knowing each other. They were caught by Mickie’s brother Rick making out in Tom’s car when they were dating. They were married August 23, 1968. For many years Mammoth Lakes, CA has been a regular vacation spot.
Do you have any other comments or thoughts : Family is everything to our parents. We want them to know that we appreciate what they do for us. That even just a phone call from them makes us feel special because it reminds us that they are thinking of us.
Everlasting Love, For Evermore
Growing up, you take a lot for granted,
the blue sky, the Sun, food on your plate,
a roof over your head, warmth and shelter,
the gentle and ever so kind winds of fate.
Because those ever so kind winds blew us to you,
a wonderful mother and father, husband and wife,
and we want you to know we’re proud of you, we
wanted to thank you for giving us such a good life.
We are so proud of you for making it to forty, and
we’re pretty good at math, so it’s over 14,000 days,
and today, that sort of commitment is a rarity,
yes, you demonstrate your love in so many ways.
Mom, you’re strong, passionate, warm and loving, and
you give your all to everyone, without a second thought,
and for the record, you’re also a very beautiful woman, yes,
despite the sands of time, you’re still quite a sort!
When you walk into a room your presence is felt,
actually, a warm and happy glow emanates throughout,
and Dad, you’re quiet, sincere, concerned, thoughtful,
and your strength has taught us what love is all about.
Because when the going got tough, you stayed strong,
and together, you have never lost sight of your dream,
you’ve guided us through the good and the bad times,
yes, you work wonderfully together, the perfect team.
That splendid togetherness makes up who we are today,
and we are all very proud to be together, to be this family,
because you’ve taught us how to love and to care for others,
yes, for many, you’ve made this world a great place to be.
Just know that we’re so proud of your life together,
and we only hope that our lives turn out just the same,
and Mom, Dad, we want you to know that we love you,
yes, we’re all very proud to be sharing your name.
Because you’ve come a long way from that date in ‘68,
actually, the ‘double’ was blind but your love was not,
you even survived being caught by Rick, making out in the car,
(by all accounts, it was pretty steamy, getting quite hot).
But anyways, in just 4 short months, you were married, and
we think “I do” were the wisest words that’ve ever been said,
because the Clyde, Tom, Regina, Melissa, Corey winds blew,
yes, fate was rearranged on the day that you were wed.
Now there’s Roman, Amanda, Kayla, Mycah & Gavin,
just look at how your mighty, sturdy oak has grown,
and we all just wanted to say thank you, yes,
we’re very grateful for the love that you’ve shown.
And we’ve shared so many wonderful moments,
in truth, there are just too many to individually list,
just know that each and every one has been ‘Mammoth’,
no, there’s not one that we would have missed.
Please know that your phone calls are also valued,
in truth, we’d like to thank you for all that you’ve done,
because your love has been our inspiration, our light,
in every way, you’ve been like our morning sun.
And we know that family is everything to you both,
well, we’ve never said just how wonderful you are,
just know that if our love for you were a distance,
well, it would reach way beyond the furthest star.
We also wanted to say Happy 40th Anniversary,
I guess that’s really what these words are for,
here’s to you, Mom and Dad, you’re truly wonderful,
and here’s to our everlasting love, for evermore.

“Hi Allen,
We love the poem, thank you so much for your hard work. You did a great job. Just a couple things we were concerned with….The title: We were wondering if maybe it could do more about family or anniversary, maybe the last line of the poem could be the title “Everlasting Love, For Evermore”. Then in the 4th paragraph, could we change the 4th line about advancing years, We’re afraid it may offend our mom.
I need to speak to the others about the paper & card, so I will get that to you as soon as possible. Thanks Again.
