LAS VEGAS - The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) has announced that it will partner with national travel wholesalers once again to offer a special promotion for travel agents. The "Cash in on Vegas" booking incentive will offer top-selling travel agents the chance to qualify to win their share of $45,000 in cash prizes. "The 'Cash in on Vegas' travel agent incentive is a great way to reward travel agents for continuing to sell Las Vegas as the extraordinary vacation destination that it is," said Terry Morrison, vice president of sales for MLT Vacations. "We are pleased to partner with the LVCVA to bring this opportunity to earn more to our valued travel agent partners." From March 30 to April 30, 2009, travel agents who sell a minimum of five air/land packages to the Las Vegas destination for travel during the months of April, May and June will qualify for the chance to win cash gift cards valued at $100, $250 and $500 from each of the nine participating wholesale partners. One lucky top producer, from each wholesale partner, will win the grand prize of $1,000. "Southwest Airlines Vacations is proud to partner with the LVCVA to offer travel agents this bonus cash incentive, in a time when agents need it most," said Sonia Mura-Bonilha, associate marketing manager for Southwest Airlines Vacations. "This incentive is very exciting to us since 27 of our agents will win cash prizes. Agents can find incredible deals on our Vegas packages now and coupled with this incentive program, it's a win-win for the agents and their clients." Entries are based on room nights in Las Vegas, so the more nights that are booked by an agent during the promotion, the more chances to win. Winners will be selected through wholesale partners and prizes will be awarded after travel has been completed. "United Vacations is again looking forward to working with the LVCVA on 'Cash in on Vegas' for our travel agents. Las Vegas continues to be one of our most popular destinations and we are pleased to participate in this incentive for the third year in a row," said Rick Karnes, vice president and general manager of United Vacations. "This cooperative effort with the LVCVA allows us to offer an exciting promotion and show our appreciation to our travel agents who are key to our mutual success." In addition to cash incentives, travel agents who book Las Vegas will discover many new reasons for their clients to visit. This year, Las Vegas has added new resorts to its skyline, including Encore and M Resort Spa Casino. The destination has also added new headlining entertainment including Terry Fator at The Mirage and The Lion King at Mandalay Bay, plus several fine dining and casual restaurants. National wholesale travel partners who will participate include Southwest Airlines Vacations, United Vacations, Funjet Vacations, US Airways Vacations, GoGo Vacations, American Airlines Vacations, Travel Impressions, Alaska Airlines Vacations and MLT Vacations. Today my friend Martha and I went to the Orlando Gift Show. I had never been to a gift show before and since I have been toying with the idea of selling at one I thought I would check it out.

Well was I ever disappointed!! I have never seen so many tacky and cheap nasty items together in one place. Everything from shell wind chimes to plastic figurines. Maybe I got the wrong idea but I thought these gift shows were more for handmade items and not manufactured things that would sell in tacky tourist traps. Am I getting the wrong impression? Is the New York gift show totally different or the Atlanta one? Or are they all the same? I know this was a small show, so maybe that's the difference? If anyone has info I would appreciate it!
