What is your name : David Millican

Why do you want the poem written: For our 6th wedding anniversary

What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): romantic

Please choose which package you would prefer : Deluxe

Would you like a copy of the handwritten drafts : Yes

What are the key messages you would like to send: I am in the marine corps and currently deployed and will miss our anniversary but I want to let her know she is my world and my Angel. She has always been there for me and I love her for that. WE have 2 wonderful kids together.  We have had our ups and downs but have always been able to work through it which in turn has made our relationship stronger. Our anniversary is Nov. 8. She is 25 and I am 26. We have worked through the odds of everyone saying we got married to young and that it wouldnt last.

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: We met in the spring of 2002 at a night club. I was on my boot leave and was looking for a little fun for the weekend. That night nither of us were looking for anything permanent really we weren’t ooking for anything at all. She was suppose to be with friends in another state and I decided to go out at the last minute. The first time I seen her it was just like out of the movies. She lit up the room and I told my friends that I was going to dance with her. Everytime I looked her way she was looking mine. That whole weekend we hung out. We went bowling, played pool, she came to a party that I had that weekend and even got caught making out in her drive way by her younger sister. That Monday I left for MCT training not expecting to hear or talk to her again. The whole trip down to North Carolina I couldnt stop thinking of her. When I got on base I called her and asked her what was going on with us and we diecided that we wanted more. We got engaged 4 months after meeting each other and after 8 months we got married. Since we got married we have been through 3 deployments and a lot of other issues that no matter how big or small have made it through it together.

In Those Stars Tonight

Amanda, I wanted to get you something special,
something very special to celebrate our ‘life’,
because I am just so very proud of you, yes,
I’m very proud to be able to call you ‘my wife’.

And I know that today, I’m not there with you,
but it’s only mere distance that keeps us apart,
just know that we’ll share the same stars tonight, and
that we’re joined together, at the hip and the heart.

Just know that you’re my World, you’re my angel,
and no finer cherub has ever graced this planet Earth,
yes, Amanda, I do appreciate you, very much indeed,
humbly, gratefully, I value your true and honest worth.

Do you know? You’ve always been there for me, and
you were always there for me, when it mattered the most,
of course, we’ve had our ups and downs along the way, but
the fact that you’re my wife, well, that I can proudly boast.

Talking of boasting, thank you for Skyler and Christian,
I think of you all and my chest swells and bursts with pride,
and I know they couldn’t have chosen a finer mother,
I know they couldn’t – even if they’d tried.

We’ve come a long way from that Catholic grave yard,
but I am just so glad that you had the good sense to “yes”,
because I think someone was watching over us right then,
He also knew that we were destined for eternal happi-ness.

We’ve always managed to work through our problems,
and that has only made our relationship stronger still,
they said we were too young when we were married,
but do you know what? I guess they always will.

But our doubters have now fallen strangely silent,
because they can see, what we have, is going to last,
although I guess we shouldn’t be that surprised,
because as soon as we met, we moved kind of fast.

Neither of us were looking for the ‘one’ that weekend,
in fact, I was on boot leave, looking for fun, not the one,
I’m just so glad I decided to go out at the last minute,
in fact, it was the smartest thing that I’ve ever done!!

Because the first time I saw you was on a movie screen,
and with this leading lady, I certainly wanted a dance,
every time I looked your way, you were looking mine, yes,
I think both of us were looking for more than half a chance.

That whole weekend we hung out, bowled and played pool,
we even went to a party and then got caught making out,
and that Monday I left for MCT and I thought that was that,
but on the way down, my heart, my soul, had little doubt.

So, when I got on base I called and asked what we had,
and it was then, that we both decided that we wanted more,
and 8 short but wonderful months later, we were married,
but the Marine Corps kept on sending me through a different door.

So, together, we’ve been through three deployments,
and lots of other issues, but we got through those together,
and Amanda, I just wanted to say Happy 6th Anniversary,
I know what we have is going to last, forever and ever.

And I wanted to thank you being my leading lady.
my Angel, here on Earth, to be my wondrous light,
just know that, Amanda, I love you very, very much,
and that’s my love you can see, in those stars, tonight.

Whether your wedding will be on a beach or you will just be using a beach theme, it makes perfect sense to please your guests by giving them suitable wedding favors. Beach theme wedding favors that evoke an ocean-side setting are ideal. This type of favor will help create the ambiance you want and be a lasting memento of your wedding. Each time a guest looks at your wedding favor, they’ll fondly think about your ceremony.

Of course you want to please your wedding guests, but you don’t want to overextend your budget either. Read this article to help you choose attractive wedding favors with a beach theme that are easy on the pocket.

Placing a votive candle inside a small beach bucket or pail creates a simple but appropriate seaside wedding favor. To make these favors, you need to buy plastic beach pails. They can easily be found in hobby shops, so buy several in various colors. Also buy some colored sand while you’re at the hobby shop. Fill each bucket about one-quarter full with colored sand, then set a votive candle into the sand. After you tie a brightly colored ribbon around the bucket you’re finished! These beach wedding favors are both simple to make and inexpensive, but they also perfectly reflect the ambiance of your ocean-side wedding. Your friends and loved ones will think of your ceremony fondly whenever they see them in their home.

You can also use seashells as satisfying yet economical destination wedding favors. Beach items like seashells are stocked by party supply and hobby and craft shops. Buy shells that are unbroken and approximately the same size. While you are in the store, also pick up some inexpensive fishing net material to cut up into small squares. Place a few seashells in the center of each square, then draw the square’s corners together and tie them up with silk ribbon in pink, blue or coral colors. Your guests will be thrilled with these appealing beach wedding favors.

For another choice in wedding favors, beach themed magnets are charming. You can buy magnets in the shape of palm trees, starfish, seashells and other beach or ocean related designs. Your guests will likely display your favors prominently on their refrigerators, reminding them daily of your ceremony.

Place-card holders are yet another alternative for tropical wedding favors. They can liven up the atmosphere of your reception and can also be used by your guests as mementos. Wedding and gift shops usually offer inexpensive place-card holders in shapes related to the ocean or the beach, like dolphins, seashells and starfish. They are placed on the tables at your reception and hold cards that provide your guests’ names and table numbers. When they return home, your guests can slip a photo inside and use the place-card holder as a playful picture frame. They will thank you for giving them a useful wedding favor, and they’ll often be reminded of your ceremony and reception.

For practical, inexpensive favors, beach themed bookmarks top the list. Look for something durable and chic like plastic or chrome bookmarks instead of simple paper. Bookmarks topped by palm trees, starfish or even flip flops are easy to find and perfectly match your beach wedding theme. Bookmark favors are practical, too, and guests who love to read will especially appreciate receiving them. The bookmark will be even more treasured if you place it in a small album of photos from your wedding or a book of romantic poems.
