Expensive Gift Him

Sun, 21 Mar 2010 06:01:07 +0000

As far as adult males are usually concerned, gifts are as excellent as anything you give them. Similar to anybody else, you desire to help to make the gifts you give a man as unique as possible. If you can’t make one by yourself, at least buy something that you can certainly still customize somehow. It doesn’t need to be expensive given that you know he can make use of it or it interests him.

1. Sporting goods is the most common type of gift a man would most likely appreciate. That is of course, if he’s into a particular sport. You may get him a personalized set of barbells if he’s into body building, a nicely autographed baseball bat by his favorite baseball player, a set of basketball cards of his favorite basketball star or a new bowling ball with his initials engraved on it. The choices are unlimited as long as you know what he wants and it’s within your budget.

2. A good wine that will suit his taste is something he will surely love, especially if you’ll share it with him. This is the type of gift a woman gives to a man whom she finds romantic and has good taste for good wine. You can at least customize it by putting the bottle in a basket you personally designed to add a touch of your artistry.

3. If he’s into autos, you can get him a modest replica of his car. Have it painted similarly to the car he owns and put it in a particular box that he will be able to keep safely. I am pretty sure that with all the car manufacturers out there, Matchbox will have a very good accomplish and updated version of each that comes in every color you could think of. You can easily also get him a fresh set of tools that will help him in repairing his car.

4. A number guys can certainly be very vain in their own ways so you might want to offer them colognes, perfumes, skin care merchandise or spa gift certificates. If you’re giving them spa gift certificates, make sure you get one for oneself too so that you can both appreciate it at the same time.

5. Outdoor equipment are also excellent gifts for adult men who love to go fishing, camping or basically going on road trips occasionally. You could get them a new fishing rod, a fresh set of fishing hooks, a fresh tent or even a fresh picnic backpack set that you can appreciate together when you go in a picnic.

6. Nowadays, with all the latest technology gadgets springing out everywhere, most guys love getting something new in the market like a new camera phone with wifi capabilities, a new laptop that they can use for gaming, a new game for their Xbox or even as simple as a new remote control for their TV.

It really varies and there are lots of gadgets to pick from. You just have to know what he loves and what he requires. You do not have to get him something incredibly high-priced. Just don’t forget to add a bit of personal touch to it and you’re great to go.

  1. 1 tremblingfingers

    I wouldn’t mind getting a $2 billion house for a present

  2. 2 tremblingfingers

    It’s ironic and very sad that the most expensive house is located in one world’s most impoverished nation.. I’m a little bit angry about it *sigh*

  3. 3 rowena

    My first thought on seeing the house one was “Why would you NEED space for 168 cars?”
    Then I saw how many servants they have, and I understood… only now my question is “Why would you NEED 600 servants?”

    Is it just me, or does anyone else think the bra and teddybear sound rather uncomfortable and therefore fail at their purpose? I wouldn’t want to cuddle a golden teddybear…

    And, to me, the watch looks like an incredibly tasteless invitation for someone to rob you.

    I rather think that even if I had the money, I would not particularly want to buy many of these.

  4. 4 avthedemon

    There are lot more poor nations than india. Mumbai is the financial capital of India,featuring the most wealthy ppl

  5. 5 deezer26

    Interesting list!! Wow, the amazing things money can buy. Not that i could EVER afford any of it, but some of it just looks tacky to me. I do love the diamond ring tho! If anyone wanted to purchase that for me, I’d have a hard time saying “thanks, but no thanks”. Great list.

  6. 6 astraya

    I’m sure I won’t be the only person thinking: what does a $10m bra do that a $25 bra doesn’t? Ditto for all the other list items.

  7. 7 Geronimo1618

    It’s Antilia, not Antilla

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antilia_(building)

  8. 8 tremblingfingers

    @avthedemon (4): I meant to say one OF world’s most impoverished nations. Seems I forgot to type the “OF”

  9. 9 arthur2shedsjackson

    I see an unfortunate correlation between LV’s choice to drastically cut back on the free-flowing commentary and the absolute sea-change in the quality of the lists since then. What I’ve been reading since the change are mostly chatty error-filled lists of things people have “sort of thought about.” It appears we’ve seen the last of fascinating topics, well-researched lists and descriptions written by people with a flair for style.
    And I must register this complaint: the “WordPress” account one must create to comment is “un-erasable.” I attempted to cancel my account; their ‘help’ page says they simply do not cancel accounts. So now I’m stuck with it.
    I think Mr. Frater really made a mistake with this changeover. That’s too bad; this used to be a daily stop for me and a site that I could recommend.

  10. 10 2junque

    Hmmm, money money money money money$$$$$$$$$ yummmmm money

  11. 11 undaunted warrior 1

    Enjoyed the read thanks, but for me I can only dream.

  12. 12 Arsnl

    I dont think the bugatti is disgustingly expensive. That type of technology is really expensive. And atleast is doesnt have 10.000 diamonds on it. If you want ti make something expensive make it better than the rest but dont put diamonds on the package. Thats stupid.

  13. 13 devonsfridge

    Call me strange. But I would want to buy the wine. And drink it. You know, out of curiosity.

    But its a really god list! Thanks.

  14. 14 devonsfridge

    @rowena

    It’s a gold thread teddy bear. So it would still be cuddly. But why would you cuddle a £43,000 teddy bear? I have the slightest feeling that bear wasn’t designed for a five-year-old.

  15. 15 suziefunbags

    Not to, you know, defend the opulence and incur the wrath of the listversers, BUT the people with the $2 billion house ARE employee 600 people in an impoverished town, which is actually a good thing, even if they are incredibly selfish. Yeah, they could have rebuilt the entire country with that money, but it is THEIR money and they can use it as they choose, and they choose to give 600 people jobs…

  16. 16 suziefunbags

    employing*

  17. 17 Lifeschool

    Nice list of unique items! – I certainly didn’t expect a Bra at #1.

    I’m pretty much content on the material front – and I’d give it all up in a second if someone were to offer me – say, A JOB. Having said that, if someone gave me a spare 20 grand for my dream car it would probably be a 2004 Lotus Esprit Turbo in deep blue.

  18. 18 thetaxcollector

    (9)Arthur2shedsjackson:i support ur back wit the trolls and back with your kinda lists call.BUT let me tell u,different lists appeal to different kinda people.you dont necessarily have to say the site has lost its flavor just because you enjoy those historical/bizarre/religious lists(which i do,anyway).for days,iv bin reading but not commenting because the lists ‘literarily’ put me to bed(especially yesterday about ‘fictional movies’)i was so bored.yet i saw comments there.apparently,people enjoyed it.So take the clue,stop making a fuss about CLOSING UR ACCOUNT.Thats an old trick.Ure an addict,ure an addict,nothing you can do.Afterall,even if you disappear,your kind will still linger around looking to see if JFRATER wil ‘change’ or something hot will come up.IF U HATE A LIST,DONT COMMENT! Or just move on to another site.dont come and boast n threaten about leaving the site.we aint gonna beg u,lol.And besides,ur account is not an alarm countinously sounding in your home.YOU CAN AS WELL ABANDON IT,u dont need to close it.

  19. 19 madhavmania

    @tremblingfingers
    India is very far off from being the world’s most impoverished nation. Its an economic powerhouse with one of the fastest growing economies. But yes there still exists a large divide between the rich and the poor.You shud get ur facts right before making sweeping ignorant statements like that

  20. 20 madhavmania

    Most of these items seem to be too expensive for a person to really enjoy them .i can imagine the woman wearing the ring must be an emotional car wreck wht with worrying which one of the people round her is going to rip her off. dont even get me started on the insurance premiums on these things.

  21. 21 texaspeach28

    I can’t even begin to relay how frustrated I feel when someone critiques a list and slams at how boring, etc it is. PEOPLE…if you think you can do better…DO IT. Quit bitching about it and get up off your lazy rear and do a list yourself! SHEESH! I am appalled that people have the audacity to point out every frigging error known to man. It’s entertainment people. NOT English class. Quit trying to be a critic and quit trying to convince people you’re ohhhh so smart.

  22. 22 thetaxcollector

    And JFRATER…You dont need to term the items ‘disgustingly expensive’ to make it seem they are throwing away thier money.That would be ‘judgemental’.the items may seem irrelevant to the average man but to them its the embodiment of Joy.Allow the rich to act rich.the smiles and words of your wife and children may give you joy but theirs may make them wanna puke.it is these items that make them feel happy.so one man’s buike is another’s buggati…besides JFRATER,im 101% sure you are richer than me*sobs*,you may buy gold and i will buy painted brass,does that mean i will call your gold ‘disgusting’ because i find it too expensive for me.What you dont realise is that,even that life you are living is ostentatious to some others out there.they think you re insane for shopping in that convinience store you think is normal….
    -ON THE ISSUE OF THE HOUSE,the general view about india is that they are poor.that area the man built his house is a high brow area.the man cannot have built his house next to a hay shed.Im sure if you come there,you will see houses of like structure and wealth.so stop painting that dramatic picture of a mansion surrounded by rubble to make them seem incompassionate.
    -That wine is a waste 2 me.Cos i dont like wine that much.but then again,some like it hot,some like it cold,some like it in the sea,80 years old.
    -THE BRA:I saw that bit on E! I wonder if it would look so good on my grandma.cos any man will testify that ‘it is not the bra that matters,But the CONTENT of the bra’ aint it??

  23. 23 noclustu

    this list makes me depressed. @22 you can change the world with 2 billion dollars (or at least the surrounding slums), you can’t with the change you spend at the convenience store. Is there really someone out there using a 3 million dollar iphone that is going to be obsolete in a year while others struggle just to survive?

  24. 24 suryaabraham

    @tremblingfingers

    You certainly live your name!

    India is no more “the most impoverished country” it used to be. It is the twelfth largest economy in the world and the 4th largest in “purchasing power parity”. India ranks 2nd in the world in agricultural farm output. India is the largest producer of milk and fruit, second largest in wheat and third largest in tobacco.
    India ranks 15th in service sector output.India has the fastest growing IT and retail sector in the world.

    And @iknownothing

    You certainly live your name!

    “Antilia” is not being built in an area “full of poverty”.
    Wikipedia says “Situated on a 4,532 square metres (48,780 sq ft) plot at Altamount Road on the famed Cumballa Hill, where land prices are upward of US $10,000 per square meter” .

  25. 25 undaunted warrior 1

    @Lifeschool(17)

    Why have material at all its a sight for sore eyes when you see them juggling under a thin cotten top.

  26. 26 Arsnl

    @suryaabraham (24): the general idea of having a strong economy is to share the wealth. India, like china, doesnt do a great job at it. Ive heard of the american dream. When ill hear about the indian dream ill say great job. Dont you see now that the only thing india and china are good at is making stuff cheaper? Its not like woow indians make amazing bmws, much better work than germans. No they just make them cheaper and they’ve got 1 billion people (more or less im just making up that number frankly cuz im to bored to google it).

  27. 27 kalel17

    The gap between rich and poor is there however you cant compare it to a more developed country as germany. Each country to its own and so each country develops using different procedures and methods. China is actually ahead of india in most areas… These countries are developing and as they develop, the gap between rich and poor will and have been shrinking, every country must start somewhere. Remember when unemployment rate in china was 50% a little less than 2 decades ago? It is down to about 12% now and it’s economy have been growing at a steady 8-10% for a full 2 decades now.. Within that time the size of their economy have tripled. At these rate of growth china and india will be at the forefront of the world in the next 10-20yrs.

    About the list now: none of those except the veyron is worth the money. They are expensive in a ‘cheap’ way that is, instead of being creative and building something exotic they just slap on some diamonds with crazy glue and call it expensive, biggest example is the perfume.. It should have been the most expensive perfume bottle in the world.

  28. 28 kalel17

    Ps: it should have read: a little less than 3 decades ago

  29. 29 hellskidd

    Everyone loves money and i mean everyone.And if anyone does differ from that beware of him/her cause he/she might be a lunatic.Its kind of love,we love it when we have it and despise it when we dont.Yes,India is making things cheap but for em billions of poor people around the globe and btw the rich west house only about 30 percent or even less of the world population,every other country on the face of this planet is a so called third world country where people can not afford those AMAZING BMW OR EM CURVY MERCEDES….India has already provided the world its cheapest form of moter transport its called the “NANO” that is for poor people and many other things…..Its easy to say oh this guy has this much of money why doesnt he go out to help others with it.I think this matter is quite personal,its his money after all,let him enjoy.Money buys you everything,,,you just gotta know where to shop for it.That will be all…Have a nice day yea all..peace.

  30. 30 suryaabraham

    @Arsnl

    I agree with most of what you say. All’s definitely not well with Indian or Chinese economy. These countries suffer from a sickness in distribution of wealth and regional disparity. The govt remains more engaged in solving social and political problems than economic problems.
    Half of the total Indian children are malnourished. 87.5% Indians live on less than $2.50 a day. But again, three out of the top ten richest men in the world are Indians.

  31. 31 hillerious

    Holy crap that wristwatch is hideous. I like topics like this, because it reminds me that I have little interest in being rich. If I had a truckload of money, I would buy myself a house and a reliable car, then use the rest of the money to build and support homeless shelters and rehab facilities in my hometown. Our town’s ravaged by meth addicts. One, a friend of a friend, froze to death on a park bench this past winter, and he didn’t even make the local news (and we are a slow news place). I wonder these people who could live with themselves and their trinkets with that kind of pain in the world.

    Also, to the guy saying the site is going downhill: Guess what? The lists are written by regular people visiting the site, and a lot are by repeat writers of lists. I myself thought the site was going downhill for a while- because of the comments section. I also experience droughts in lists that interest me. However, until every author of every one of your favorite lists abandons the site for good, the site is not going downhill, you’re just getting impatient. I’ve written a few well received lists under three different user names over the past two or three years, and am working on a new one. If my list should be published, it would be of the quality of your beloved “old site”, but whether you like it or not depends heavily on how much the subject interests you. That’s just the way it is, and is not really a sign of a general downward trend.

  32. 32 johnnycash08

    I dont agree with Arsnl (like always). I agree with kalel17.
    India and China did a great job during the last decades in fighting poverty. The super rich in those countries are a proof a success, not a proof a failure. A few decades ago all the people there were poor, now we got rich people and a growing middle class. Of course there a still a lot of poor people, too. But this is just natural. 150 years ago this situation was the same in the US and Europe.

  33. 33 negativevenice

    I’m sorry I’m sorry, but #9 is just really bugging me: “from whence” is redundant, since whence already means “from where.” D:

  34. 34 General Tits Von Chodehoffen

    Cool list. The bear really makes you understand how price does not always equal worth. Little kids love ripped smelly teddy bears just as much as they would love the gold one.

  35. 35 tremblingfingers

    @suryaabraham (24)
    I didn’t say “the most” as I have corrected in @tremblingfingers (8 but that seems to be wrong too, that’s why;

    @madhavmania (19
    Forgive my “sweeping ignorant statements like that”
    I did what you suggested, a little research…

    Country Comparison: GDP per capita. India is #164
    https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2004rank.html

    India still has the world’s largest number of poor people in a single country. Of its nearly 1 billion inhabitants, an estimated 350-400 million are below the poverty line, 75 per cent of them in the rural areas.
    http://www.indiaonestop.com/povertyindia.htm

    456 million Indians (42% of the total Indian population) now live under the global poverty line of $1.25 per day (PPP). This means that a third of the global poor now reside in India.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_World

    India rank #1 in “Share of all poor people (most recent) by country”
    http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/eco_pov_sha_of_all_poo_peo-poverty-share-all-poor-people

    So….

    Please allow me to rephrase and correct my comment: @tremblingfingers (2)to:

    “It’s ironic and very sad that the most expensive house is located in a country with the biggest number of poor people in the world.”

    I’m STILL a little bit angry —and disturbed— by it *sigh*

    @noclustu (23)I agree with you.

  36. 36 iknownothing

    Firstly thanks JF for publishing my list,I never thought it would see the light of day. Secondly thanks for the mostly positive comments this list has recieved so far. This is the first list I have compiled and you have all inspired me to attempt another one in the near future.
    Once again thank you all.

  37. 37 cherylandjon

    t@#2 Tremblingfingers
    I couldn’t agree more,its just so cruel…

  38. 38 tremblingfingers

    Jfrater, you rawk!!!

  39. 39 jfrater

    @tremblingfingers (38): Why thank you!

  40. 40 maverik90

    Is it just me, or does the bra look like a pair of bug eyes? And I would bet a lot of money that most people you asked on the street wouldn’t like the smell of that perfume. Cheap perfume isn’t good, but neither is the ridiculously expensive stuff, usually. I’m glad I can comment again, by the way. Was anyone else having a problem logging in?

  41. 41 Lifeschool

    @undaunted warrior 1 (25): LOL! Cotton? I prefer Satin or Silk Chiffon on a woman – my imagination can do the rest

  42. 42 uninsane

    good idea for a list

    I personally have no problem with wealthy people buying expensive a stuff.I do want to point out that the house in number 6 isn’t the most expensive. Bill Gates house cost 6 billion, and I don’t know the price but have you looked up the royal house in the UAE.

    One item that should be on this list is the personal submarines that billionaires have theses days.It was in a old issue of popular mechanics. A personal sub can cost anywhere from 120-200 million dollars.

    overall I like the list,and there should be plenty of others

  43. 43 mordechaimordechai

    I consider myself a liberal and far off from being a commy-radical but these things really makes me mad.
    Distinctively i recognize my feeling not as envy ,or at least not only that, it’s just the perception of something wrong. Brutally unfair to any fellow human.
    I can understand having a nice car or land or liquid to spare. But wealth for its own sake disgust me.

    I will add a list of exams to do as a addenda to studies in Economy:

    -The experience of cold
    -Learn to sleep in deep hunger
    -The contemplation of a corpse
    -giving a blank cheque to some unknown youngster (G.A.)

  44. 44 madhavmania

    i find it highly irritating when people think the rich poor divide is concentrated only in the developing nations like India and China H
    @ ARSNL
    Here i are a few facts about the Us and the american Dream
    For poor people, the answer is clear: Essentially none of this wealth has come their way. Adjusted for inflation, the tenth percentile of after-tax family income is almost exactly the same today as it was in 1979 – about $13,500 (note this means that 30 million Americans live on even less). For the middle class, the situation is only slightly different. In 1979, the average middle-class family had an after-tax income of $38,000; today that figure is about $43,700, meaning that over the past quarter-century the average American family has seen its income rise by about $200 per year.

    For our wealthiest citizens, by contrast, 25 years of Republican rule have made these very much the best of times. During this period, the average after-tax income of the top 1 percent of Americans has risen an astonishing 111.3 percent, from $298,900 to $631,700 per year (again, all these figures are adjusted for inflation).
    The greatest inequality between rich and poor among OECD countries was found in Mexico, where the wealthiest 10 percent of households had more than 25 times greater income than the poorest ten percent. In Turkey, the ratio was 17 to one, while the U.S. was just below that, at 16 to one.
    After Mexico and Turkey, the U.S. also has the highest poverty rate of the 30 OECD nations, according to the report, which defined poor households as those whose income was less than half of the media income in each of the member-countries.

    For all OECD countries, the average poverty rate was just under 10 percent in 2005. In Mexico, the rate was highest at more than 20 percent. Turkey and the U.S. were tied at 17 percent. Lowest poverty rates were found in Denmark, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Norway.

    So stop terming displays of wealthy by Indians and the chinese as disgusting or something unique to those countries

  45. 45 bythewaywhichonespink

    madhavmania (44) I was going to make a light hearted comment, but your comment really sobered me up. I knew there was a great disparity, but didnt realize it was as large as you paint. Have I been wearing blinders? Just trying to stay in the game that I didnt realize I totally missed the gravy train? I just want to make enough money to raise my kids and have something for my retirement (doesnt help I had to give my ex half -damfcspos-).

    We are all really screwed. Just wait til we get national health care. Look what they did to the schools. America is not going to be able to compete if only the rich get educated. And dont let anyone fool you. This is where it is heading. Only the rich will have access to “good” schools with normal class sizes.
