There’s no reason to dread 1 year old birthday parties. Ideas for baby gifts are plenty these days. Whether you have a big or small budget, you’ll be able to find something for the baby in your life. In fact, babies aren’t particular at all and you may find that she’ll happily play with the box the present comes in more than the present itself.
Check out these great baby gifts:
Classic toys. Think about the toys that you enjoyed playing with as a child. Many of these toys are still around and make great gifts for a 1 year old. For example, you could buy a set of wooden blocks, a little red wagon or a sand pail and shovel.
Soft toys. A lot of babies love stuffed animals and these are relatively cheap to come by. If you don’t know baby’s favorite animal, you could purchase your own favorite. You’re also more likely these days to find exotic stuffed animals, such as flying squirrels or ugly monsters.
Educational toys. At this age, babies are learning about action and reaction, so look for toys that do things. For example, a toy that makes noises when baby pushes the buttons can delight him for hours.
Videos. While it’s true that most doctors don’t recommend letting babies watch TV, let’s be realistic. You don’t want to sit your baby in front of the TV all day, but a little bit here and there so that mom can fix dinner is fine. Look for popular shows like Sesame Street or try a DVD that teaches baby a foreign language.
Music CDs. As they turn one year old, many babies start to become fascinated with music and songs. Music can teach important concepts like the ABCs, counting, colors, body parts, and many other things. Look for CDs that have songs with popular dances or finger plays to go along with them.
You don’t have to spend too much time planning what type of present you’re going to buy for a baby. She’ll be able to have fun with just about anything that you want to buy.

If her ears are pierced nothing looks prettier on a baby girl than little diamond studs. You should be able to get a decent pair for under $200. without skimping on quality.

Excuse me, a one year old and you’re talking hundreds of dollars? You are just trying to impress the parents. Bad choice. I would consider something educational, a book that can be interactive, blocks that she can put into different shapes, etc. This child will play as hard with a cardboard box, as with something costing $100!. Keep it Simple

I think the water globe idea is very cute. It would be something you could add to each year. A nice start to a very tasteful collection you could get her a new one each year on her birthday.
Other cool collection ideas
Precious Moments
Mini Tea sets
Cherished Teddies
Madam Alexander Dolls
There are also a lot of cool wall art items you can buy with a child’s name. My kids each have one in their room and they are just a nice addition to any bed room.

For a one year old the best thing would be books, that way the mother and father can build a close relationship to their daughter by reading to her. Man, who spends a $100 or more on a 1 year old these days? That is crazy.

How about a membership to the zoo or local kids museum? Or a gift certificate to build a bear or somewhere that she like to go? I like these kinds of gifts for people that have everything. I would rather have something I use than another thing in my house.

Something hand-made with the baby’s name on it, like a blanket, etc…
Even rich people love stuff with the baby’s name on it, and a blanket will surely be put to use.

I think you should get her something that has meaning and will last for a long time, as in something she won’t grow out of… maybe it can have something to do with the whole family but mostly the baby joining the family…not sure becuase i haven’t bought a gift like that but thats as much as i can tell you! hope it helps!

$100 Bucks on a 1 year old!? My lil girl had a bunch of stuff bought for her 1 year birthday and she had more fun with the boxes then anything else. If you are going to spend THAT kind of money then put it into an ESA (Educational Savings Account). That is the ONLY way you can spend that kinda money on a 1 year old and feel like you haven’t wasted it.

Why don’t you do a white basket full of gifts. You could put a big white stuffed tiger in the basket, several books, a baby doll, and some puzzles. Baskets are fun because you can load them up w/ all kinds of goodies.

How about a little tricycle, or a 3-wheeled bike that you push with your feet. My daughter received one for her first birthday and used it a lot. You can get a helmet to go with it. Or how about a wagon. Perhaps you can find one that can be personalized with her name on it.

A Certificate of Deposit or a Savings Bond would be gifts that would keep on giving for years to come.
An Add-A-Pearl necklace would also be nice. For each special occasion, a pearl could be added to the necklace. This would be a nice piece of jewlery for her to wear on her wedding day!
